Gen. 1: Octavia Chapter Five

The Adventures of the Slughorn Family

Octavia: Generation 1 Chapter 5

Kyle slid the black velvet box back into his pocket.  He never expected that she would cry over his proposal.  He knew she would think she was surprised but it, but never that she would cry.  He took her hands and led her to the nearby bench.

They sat there in silence as the sun set on Riverview.  Neither of them knew what to say or where to start if they did.

Finally as the street lights came on Kyle turned to hear, by this time her tears had dried up, he took her hands and looked directly into her beautiful pale blue eyes.

“Octavia, I know you don’t love me like you did Danger, but if you really look inside yourself I know you love me.  I can make you and your fantastic boys happy I know I can, but you have to let me in to do it.  I want to become a Slughorn and help make your name well known through the Sim world.  I-“

“You want to take my last name?”  Octavia interrupted.

“Yes!  You are the bravest most wonderful person I know and I want to help make your name a household legacy.”  He tightened his grip on her hands and was pleased when she laced her fingers with his.

Octavia’s throat felt as if it would close for good, but she pushed past that and spoke.  “Kyle, I love having you around and I don’t know what I would do without you, but I don’t know if I love you, and if I do how do I know that my feelings are love and not just sensations like with Danger?”

“You don’t know.  Sometimes you just have to take a change in life.  I thought I loved Misty and we were together for years, but I never felt for her the way I feel for you.  I know I want to take a change with you.  There is no doubt in my mind, but –“

Again Octavia interrupted, “We haven’t even kissed.  We don’t even know we connect on that level.”  Her voice was shrill and cracked with emotion.

Kyle slid closer to her and moved his hand to the back of her head and leaned forward…. Octavia pushed him away.

“No not this way.  This is wrong… it is all wrong.”  The tears once again began spilling down her face.

Kyle hated to see her like this but as he waited for her to arrive earlier he had decided it was all or nothing and he knew that he could never go back.  “I will give you some time to process all this and to figure out how you really feel, but I can’t wait for you forever.  If you haven’t given me an answer in two weeks or the answer is you don’t love me I am going to be leaving Riverview.  There is nothing but you and your boys here for me and if you don’t want me then I need to find myself a new life.”

“Kyle…”  Again Octavia’s voice cracked.  She couldn’t bear the thought of him leaving.  She needed him.

He leaned over, kissed her on her cheek and left her sitting on the cold bench alone.

When she finally dragged herself home she thought that some boding with her boys would be great and luckily they were all home from their dad’s house.  A good game of Sims3 on the Simstation did put a smile on her face, but she couldn’t shake the sinking feeling she had in the pit of her stomach.  She wanted to talk to Kyle, but he was nowhere to be found.  Pax told her when she got home that he hadn’t been home yet.

The next few days Kyle didn’t return home and Octavia worried about him.  She worried if he was okay and if he hated her.  She worried that he would never come home, but as she worried she also thought.

At school Pax found out prom was coming up and he knew exactly who he wanted to ask, but she had missed school the past two days.  Saturday morning rolled around and he called her up asking if she could meet him at the activities park.  She quickly agreed and even though he hated the outdoors he headed out the door.

When he got there he found her waiting for him at the mouth of the park.  He couldn’t believe his eyes.  Her beautiful long hair was no longer.  It was chopped short and spiky.

“Wow Bluebell you cut your hair.”  He didn’t really know what to think about it.

She bowed her head and looked at her shoes.  “I know it is awful.  My dad bought us a chemistry set and my sister was playing with it and I went to get her for dinner and I got caught in the explosion and my hair caught fire.”

“What?!?  That is awful.  Are you all okay?”

“Yeah we are both fine nothing more but my hair was harmed.”  She sniffled trying to keep the tears from escaping her eyes.

Pax didn’t like seeing her so said. He put his hand under her chin and lifted her head so that their eyes met.  When they did he realized that it isn’t her hair that he was crazy about but her.

“There was a reason I asked you here today.”  He said pushing the toe of his shoe into the dirt.

“Really?”  Her cheeks turned a pretty shade of pink and on top of her blue skin it was breathtaking to Pax.

“Yeah, Um… I wanted to …. Ah… ask you … if you.. uh wanted to… um go … ah… with me to prom?”  His question was drawn out and all over the place.

Bluebell was taken off guard.  She never thought in a million years that her crush may like her back and she blurted out,  “YES!” and then her cheeks grew even redder.

“Well I am glad that it is a yes.”  He laughed.  “Oh and just for the record I love your hair.”  He winked at her and she knew that she would do her best to make him hers.

The next week the two found themselves inseparable.  They ate lunch together, sat next to each other in every class they could and always talking about their plans for the prom.

The night finally came and the two had a grand time.  They acted silly and were two great kids at a party, but as they danced close Bluebell whispered into Pax’s ear, “Pax Slughorn one day you will be mine.”

He just chuckled it off as being the mood and didn’t reply.  After the dance a bunch of the kids, including the two of them, went to the activities park to hang out and watch the sunrise.  It was the only night of the year that Riverview lifted the teen curfew.

As the sun rose over the horizon Pax and Bluebell shared their first of many kisses.

As her oldest was out finding a new love and have a grand time Octavia and Porter had a breakthrough.  He never called her mom and always talked about Danger like he was his idol.  Octavia desperately wanted Porter to know that he was his own person.  He may be Danger’s clone, but he was his own living breathing person with his own feelings and decisions to make.  That night Porter wasn’t feeling well and allowed Octavia to dote over him.  She fixed him chicken soup and when she tucked him into bed he allowed her to kiss is little head.  Heart broken heart started to mend a little that night.  You see Kyle still had not come home or called or anything.

Two weeks had passed since Kyle proposed to Octavia.  She found herself waiting for him on the front porch.  As she sat there sipping her coffee the morning dew soaked threw her flannel pj’s.  She was mesmerized by a cute little gnome who was dancing in the yard trying to make her smile at no avail.

The only time a smile played on her lips was when she watched Kyle’s car put into the driveway.

“Shouldn’t you be at work?”  He asked in a monotone voice as he sat down next to her.  He had a sinking feeling that she was going to send him away and the past two weeks he had been preparing to leave.

“I was hoping you would come home today.”  She replied solemnly.

“Well I did and do you have an answer for me?”  He folded his hands in his lap and looked down at them.

“Kyle…. I…”  She couldn’t form the words she was thinking.

He rubbed his hands on his faded overalls and stood up, “I figured.  I will get my stuff packed up and will be out of here as quick as I can.”

Octavia stood up quickly and threw her cup down and got into his face.  “Listen to me.”  She shouted taking Kyle back a step.  “I am terrified of his and all I know is that I can’t live without you.  Do you still have the damn ring?”  Her anger took over and her face grew red.

“Um… of course I do.”  He stammered.

“We don’t need another big production for this.  Just slip it on my finger, okay.”  She held out her shaking hand.

Kyle pulled the box from his pocket and after pulling the ring out of the box he slide it on her finger.  Octavia smiled widely at the man that would finally make her a wife.

After that things started too happened pretty fast.  Kyle insisted on having a semi-big wedding and that Octavia have a bachelorette party.  He wanted to make sure she didn’t miss out on a thing.

She had invited her family, but her parents were ailing and since she had never been very close to her siblings they couldn’t take the time out of their own lives to make the trip.  Kyle had no family left so that meant that their wedding party and guest would be the boys and friends.

Over the years Misty and Octavia started to rebuild their friendship, but they weren’t as close as they use to be.  Octavia had a new close friend.  Her name was Breeka Blush and she was Octavia’s maid of honor.

At the bachelorette party Breeka made a beautiful speech about the love Octavia and Kyle shared and then as everyone lifted their glasses for the toast she hit Octavia in the face with the alcohol.

Octavia got Breeka back when she was least expecting it.  The woman had a grand time and the following day they went dress shopping.

She would be the bell of the ball the picture of beauty at her wedding.

Many of you may be wondering what the boys think of all this.  Pax and Percival were thrilled at the thought of Kyle being a Slughorn, but Porter was not thrilled.  He had never taken on the Slughorn name and all he wanted was to move in with Danger, but Octavia and the courts would not let that happen.  However, even though he didn’t like it he didn’t cause a scene.  Thank goodness for small favors.

Finally the big day arrived and Octavia woke up in awe.  It was her wedding day.  After all those years of Danger stringing her along she never thought this day would ever arrive.

“Octavia Brenda Slughorn, it has taken us a long time to get here and I for one will never let it go.  I vow to make you happy, treat you with respect and love your boys.  Till death do us part my love.”  He put the ring on her finger.

“Kyle Brundel Time, we started out as friends and now I can’t see my life without you in it.  It took me a long time to figure out that I love you.  I vow to you that I will treat you with respect and love you till death do us part.”

They shared their first kiss as husband and wife and as they turned to great their guests the minister presented them as Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Slughorn.

Breeka had been in charge of the cake and she did a wonderful job of it.  The cake was fluffy and delicious.  The guests had a grand time.

The party dance well after sunset.

Finally Octavia and Kyle left their party and headed to the limo that would take them to the hotel for the night and as Porter Zone watched the woman who wanted him to call her mother and her new husband drive away he spotted something across the park.

The sight was something that he knew would change his life forever.

Gen. 1: Octavia Chapter Four

The Adventures of the Slughorn Family

Octavia: Generation 1 Chapter 4

Time moved along as it does and the Slughorn’s were finding a sense of normalcy again.  Kyle, who happened to live next store, would come by every morning.  Octavia would wake up to him mowing the lawn, or weeding the garden or other outdoor jobs.

The boys loved him and even though she had sworn off men she really enjoyed having him around.

She could always count on him taking the time to just listen to her.  They frequently talked about their ex’s betrayals and the wounds left behind by them.

Kyle would interject where he needed, but for the most part he just allowed Octavia to talk.  This was something she wasn’t use to, first with her large family and then with her absent boyfriend and father of her children.

Kyle hated being in his big house alone.  Misty didn’t want in the divorce and he couldn’t stand the memories it held.  Octavia understood what he was going through and made sure he was invited to dinner every night and included him in many of the family outings.

Finally Kyle put his house up for sale and it wasn’t long until he got an offer on it that he couldn’t refuse.  He told Octavia and the boys one night at dinner that he would be moving to a new city once the sale was final.

Octavia couldn’t take that news.  He had become her friend, her confidant, and her rock.  She couldn’t bear the thought of losing him.  She discussed it with the boys and they asked him to move in with them once the house was sold.  The boys gushed about how he would bunk in their room and it would be like the ultimate sleepover.  Kyle, who didn’t want to leave Octavia either, agreed and the move, was set in motion.

Soon after he moved in it was time for Percy’s birthday.  Octavia couldn’t believe that her little loner boy who spends hours talking to his imaginary friend was going to be a child, old enough to attend school and old enough to not need mom as much.

In the Slughorn tradition she planned a big party.  When the day came she couldn’t help by tear up that her boys were growing up.

The morning of Percy’s birthday, big brother Pax, woke the sleeping toddler, pulled him out of bed and gently set him on the floor.

“Today you are going to be a child little brother.”  Pax’s words had been carefully planned out and rehearsed.  “This means you are going to have to help Porter and I help mom around the house.  Our dad didn’t do the greatest job of taking care of mom, but we can.  Do you understand me little brother?”

Percival suck his fist in his mouth and looked up at Pax with big blue eyes.  “Me got it brover.”  The little toddler cooed.

Pax shook his head in satisfaction and took the younger boys hand and helped him downstairs for breakfast.

When they got downstairs Pax got Percy his last bottle and stopped Porter from waking their mom.

“What?”  Porter’s attitude filled up the room.

“Let her sleep in a little.”

“Pax we need breakfast.  I’m hungry.”  Porter sounded just like his look-a-like Danger.

“If you can’t do it yourself then I will get you a bowl of cereal, but let mama sleep.  We have a busy day today and she does a lot work for us as it is.”  Pax was growing up way to fast and this worried Octavia as she stood on the other side of her door listening to her boys.

She opened the door and smiled at her life, yes she considered her three boys her life, and said “Who’s hungry?”

The morning was spent feeding the boys and getting ready for the party ahead.  The party itself was a grand success.  The day was filled with great friends, good music, fun games and great food.

And as the sun set on the day Octavia helped her little Percy blow out the candles on the cake she made him.

And just like his brother Pax, Percy loved to dance. He spent the rest of his birthday dancing the night away.

Kyle woke up extra early every morning and would go out into the yard and sit by the little pond to think about his life and what he wanted out of it.  The day after Percy’s party as he sat out on the wet grass Kyle Time finally understood what he wanted for his life, but now that he knew he had to figure out how to make it happen.

Life for the Slughorn’s fell into a nice normal pattern.  Bonds were being formed by the members in the family and the children started to test the waters to see what they liked and what they didn’t like in hopes for someday to find what they want to do with their lives.

Pax, who loved telling a great story, would spend hours writing short scary stories and tell them to his brothers before bed.  This lead too many nightmares and 1 am awaking that they didn’t tell Octavia about.

Then all too quickly it was time for another birthday party, this time from child to teen hood and this aging worried Octavia.  She knew that Pax was as great child, loving and kind, but she also knew that he was the child of Danger and he could start showing behaviors much like his father’s.  As she planned for the party she worried about what could happen but hoped for the best.

Before the guest began to arrive Octavia gave Kyle a camera and asked him take a picture of her and her boys.  She tried to be energetic and positive because the boys really didn’t want to “pose” for a picture and Kyle just happened to snap the picture at the most unexpected time.

As Pax leaned over his confetti decorated cake he placed his finger to his chin.  He wanted to wish for something special, something most kids didn’t wish for, and something not for himself and as the image of what he wished for filled his mind he blew out his candles.

As the age sparkles overtook the young boy the party attendees cheered.  Look do you see who was finally allowed visitation and actually came?  Is it a surprise to you that he came?  ***I would love to hear your thoughts about it.***

Pax smiled widely as his mom took his first teen year picture.

There was only one thing that Pax really wanted for his birthday and that was a fresh start with his dad.  Now that his dad was allowed, by law, to be a part of his life and he took the time to come to his party he wanted a start over.  Octavia didn’t understand this.  The man walked away from his family, from his boys, but the boys in question only wanted their dad even after all that. So she tried to be more like her children and said she would try to be civil to him for her boys.

She even agreed when Pax asked to have pictures taken with Danger.

He had inherited so much of the Slughorn features.  He was quite the handsome young man and Octavia hoped and prayed for good things in regards to him.

After pictures were taken, fun was had, the younger boys were in bed and the guest headed home Octavia, Kyle and Pax sat down and had a piece of cake.  As Kyle looked across the table at Octavia he knew that he had to put his plan into motion.

“Octavia, I won two tickets for a three night stay in Simwaii.  I thought that since Pax is now a teen and he can watch the younger boys you would go with me.” He smiled widely at her.  He knew that Pax would just on board and he was right.

“Mom that would be great for you to go with Kyle.  You work so hard and you do so much for all of us it is time to do something for yourself.”  Pax looked over at Kyle who nodded his head in agreement.

“I’m not sure that is a good idea.  Porter has a report due and Percy needs help with his spelling.”

“Mom it is only for three days.  I can help them with that stuff.  I had Mr. Trent for history mom and I know what he expects when a student gives a report, and you know spelling is easy for me.”

Octavia sat quite for a bit and finally agreed to go against her better judgment and two days later she found herself on a plan traveling to a tropical oasis.

While his mother was gone Pax was true to his word.  He made sure his brothers got up and made it to school on time.  He helped them with their school work and even made them healthy dinners, despite the fact that Octavia had left them some money to order food.

He was a very responsible teen, but even with that he found himself breaking the rules.  He wanted to get to know more kids his own age so he threw a party while the adults away.

During the party he got a little cozy with this stunning gal.  Her name is Bluebell Red and she was new to Riverview.  Pax didn’t know what he was feeling and where those feelings were going, but he had a great time chatting with her and cuddling with her under the stars.

The cops were called on the party, but since they had never had any problems from the Slughorn home they just gave him a warning and told him that everyone had to go home.  They even promised not to tell his mom, this time.

He hugged Bluebell goodbye and tucked the boys into bed and as he sat down to finish up his homework Octavia and Kyle came home, both wondering why he was up so late doing homework.

Kyle and Octavia had a wonderful time together in Simwaii but it hadn’t gone the way Kyle had planned at all.  He had hoped he would be able to confess, once again, his feelings for Octavia, but the opportunity never arose.

After they had been home a month he couldn’t take just being friends any longer.  So one afternoon Octavia came home from work to an empty house.  Laid on her bed were a beautiful dress and a note. The note read:

My dearest Octavia,

I am not going to beat around the bush with you any long.  Please put on this dress and meet me at the park.  The boys are at Danger and Misty’s house for supper and will be back later tonight.

Octavia looked at the note several times and didn’t quite understand the meaning of it.  “Beating around the bush with me?”  She thought to herself as she put on the beautiful dress Kyle bought her.

Still thinking about what Kyle could mean she drove across town to the gazebo park where she found Kyle waiting for her and as she approached him she thought it was curious that he had his hands behind his back.

As she grew nearer she couldn’t help but to think how handsome he was in his pressed black shirt and when she was just in front of him he pulled out a dozen red roses, “Surprise.”  He whispered as a smile popped onto her face.

“Oh Kyle these are beautiful but you shouldn’t…”

“Octavia I have passed up this opportunity too many times.  Please allow me to speak.”

She lifted her eyebrows indicating him to go ahead as she took a deep breath into her flowers.  Their sent was heavenly.

Then Kyle really surprised her as he leaned in close and whispered in her ear.  “Octavia Brenda Slughorn I still think you are the moon and the stars and I love you.”

Before she could say something that would ruin the moment he dropped to one knee and pulled out his large purchase from Simwaii.  He opened the box quickly, “Octavia, be my wife.  I know I can make you and your boys happy.”

She looked at him with a dumbfounded expression.  She didn’t know what to say and as tears began falling from her light blue eyes Kyle shut the ring box.

Gen 1: Octavia Chapter three

The Adventures of the Slughorn Family

Octavia: Generation 1 Chapter 3

During the rest of her pregnancy Octavia had a lot on her mind.  After the day in the bathroom Danger did change, but it didn’t last very long and Octavia and Pax found themselves always waiting and wondering where Danger was.

Even the day little Percival, it is of the French origin meaing Pierce Valley, Slughorn was born Danger was nowhere to be seen.  However, Octavia didn’t let the spoil the birth of her special little angle or bring him home, even though she had to take a cab home and when she arrived poor Pax was sitting at the dining room table eating cereal because there had been no one home to make him a good dinner.

Octavia put Percival in his crib and went down and hugged her little boy cooing in his ear that she was sorry he was alone.  Tears splashed down her face as he hugged her back and whispered into her ear that he was okay.

When he pulled away from her he had an idea in his head.  “Mama, come here I wanna show you something.”

He pulled her by the hand to his room and changed into a red dinosaur.

Look what aunt Misty brought me when you were gone.  She said she found his old costume trunk in her attic and said I could have it.  He began to walk around the room and rawing like an animal.  The sight made Octavia laugh and she knew that the sims god had blessed he with the most precious lives and no matter what happens with her and Danger she would always be lucky that she met him.

Know that she would be returning to work soon she decided to give herself a makeover.  The EA store had some new outfits so she invested in the set for her business and decided to promote it by wearing one of them.  This type of advertising seemed to work.

Danger got a makeover himself and Octavia didn’t understand why.  She couldn’t help but find him handsome with his new longer hair and sexy new suspenders.  On the very few times he wanted to be intimate with her she couldn’t resist him, but she didn’t understand the reason behind it.  She knew it wasn’t for her or his ego so why?

Time passed with Danger being gone more and more and Percival growing into a cute little toddler.

Octavia was content with her two little men, but she was very disappointed in the man who was their father.

Percival was okay with his dad being gone; actually he was okay with being by himself.  He could be found play with a strange doll that his grandma Slughorn stent him.

Octavia did her best.  When she wasn’t working she was spending time helping Pax with his homework or teaching Percival his skills.

Danger’s absence stressed Octavia out and when the boys were asleep she felt alone and that she had made a bad decision in not asking Danger to leave when she was pregnant with Percival.  These thoughts and feelings caused her to cry late into the night.

What kept Octavia from asking, no telling, Danger to leave was the fact that she knew that he loved his boys.  When he was home, and that was very little, he spent time with them.  He helped Pax with homework and even taught little Percy to use the big boy potty.

Amongst the chaos of the love life of Octavia Slughorn there was a lot of good too.  She and the boys were bonding and creating a lifelong relationship.  She was determined that neither of her boys would end up like their father.  They would learn to love women and respect them.

Octavia craved friendship and companionship and she called her best friend Misty to come over or meet out and Misty was always busy.  She had gotten a job and found it hard to make time for her friend.

Finally Kyle, Misty’s husband, came over for a visit after one of Octavia’s invitations to Misty.  This was all on Misty’s urging because she cared about Octavia and didn’t want her to be alone.

On the urging of Misty, Kyle and Octavia began to spend a lot of time together.  They began trusting each other and they truly became best friends.

The boys really started like having him around and while Pax was at school and little Percy was taking his name Octavia and Kyle would make a picnic lunch and go out in the yard, play with the water slide and sit down to eat and just talk.  Both of them were thankful for each other and the adult conversation that they could count on.

Both were going through the same thing.  The people they were in love with were absent from their life.  Kyle told Octavia that he and Misty had been together since they were about Pax’s age.  Of course they weren’t together in the couple sort of way back then but Kyle new that Misty was the one for him all those years ago and now he was having trouble figuring out how to live without her constant presence.  It was hard for him and he truly understood the pain that Octavia was feeling.

One night while Octavia sat at the table working on a new design for her garden Danger came home.  He didn’t day hello or even make eye contact with her.  He went to the computer and after logging in he began cheering.  Octavia didn’t understand the excitement and tried to get him to tell her what he was so excited about but he just kept telling her to wait to just wait and see, and he flew out the door.

Hours later he came back with this little boy.  He explained that he had requested a clone license and he was finally approved.  He was so very excited that he had a boy that he could call his own and who was exactly like him.  He had named the boy Porter and just knew that he would fit into the family just fine.

The presences of this little boy both made Octavia happy and sad, happy because she loved children, but sad because she worried that this would upset Pax and Percival.  However, her initial reaction wasn’t very pretty.  She cried, yelled and screamed at Danger for not thinking about her or the boys in this decision.  It is something she would regret all of her life, the way she made Porter feel.  He may be Danger’s clone, but he still was his own person with feelings.  After she calmed down she felt this would be something that would keep Danger home more often, but she was wrong.

One night Octavia got a visitor from her friend Kyle and it was nothing like she had every dreamed of.

She was watching Pax play the Simbox when there came a knock on the door.  She got up from her chair and opened the door to her friend Kyle.  “Hi Kyle come on in.”  She smiled.

“No I can’t.”  He rushed up on her, grabbed her waist and pulled her close to him.  His breathing was labored and he was acting weird.  “I need to do this before lose my nerve.    Octavia Brenda Slughorn, I am in love with you.  You are the moon and stars to me.”  He leaned down to kiss her and she pulled away.

“What…ah….Kyle.. um…”  Octavia didn’t know what to say.

Kyle bowed his head.  “I knew it was a long shot that you felt the same.  I’m so sorry.”  He didn’t give her another opportunity to say anything and jogged to his car.  Octavia shut her door with a sigh.

For days this bothered her and ate at her conscious.  She hadn’t done anything but Misty was her best friend and she felt that she had every right to know that her husband had professed love for her, another woman, not his wife.

She called Misty up and finally Misty said she would meet her and they decided a nice walk would be a great way to catch up.

“I have missed you.”  Misty gushed as she met up with Octavia, “Oh my goodness Percy had gotten so big.”

The two walked in silence for a while and then Octavia turned to her best friend and gave her a very dishearten look.

“What is it?”  Misty asked.

“I have to tell you something.  It is about Kyle.”

The two stood face to face as Octavia had trouble forming her words.  “Well spit it out.” Misty snapped.

Octavia swallowed hard and opened her mouth, “Misty, a few days ago Kyle confessed that he feeling of love for me.”  She knew the words sounded lame, but what else was she supposes to say?

Misty freaked out on Octavia screaming that she was having an affair with her husband.  Octavia tried to tell her that she wasn’t but Misty wouldn’t believe her.  She left in a huff yelling that she never wanted to see Octavia again.

The town folks of Riveview still to this day talk about unfair Misty’s reaction was.  Kyle and Octavia didn’t do anything and …….

Misty had a secret of her own.

Octavia again was thrown in to a life of loneliness.  Danger was still always gone and now her two best friends were dejected and wouldn’t talk to her.  He boys were her salvation and she and Porter were becoming close even though he didn’t consider her his mother.

Then out of the blue Kyle called her up and invited her over.  She packed Percy’s diaper bag and headed over excited that her friend wanted to talk to her again.  When she got there he was playing in the sprinkler, but he didn’t look like he was having fun.  He invited her inside and while he was poured them lemonade he bowed his head in sadness.

She came up behind him and put her hand on his shoulder and he twisted around and took her into a hug.

“What’s wrong Kyle?”  She mumbled against this manly shoulder.

“It’s true Octavia, it is all true.”

She didn’t understand what he was talking about.  She just patted him on the back. “What is true?”

“About Danger having an affair.”

She pushed him at arm’s length, “What are you talking about?”  She felt clammy and like she was going to crawl out of her skin.

“I saw him Octavia…I saw him and he was with…”  His mouth went dry and he could barley talk.  “He was with Misty.”

He then launched into his story.  A few days before he had come home and found Misty and Danger making out on couch, and he lost it.  He grabbed Danger by his shirt pulled him to his feet and punched him.  Danger was about ready to fight back when Misty stepped in between them and started making accusations the he and Octavia were having an affair.

He couldn’t believe what she was saying.  It was the farthest thing from the truth, but yet she was accusing him of it like she had the right to cheat on him.  After more arguing Misty and Danger had left and Misty hadn’t been home since.

Octavia didn’t believe what he was telling her and she grabbed Percy and fled back to her home where she found Misty and Danger chatting in the front yard.  She handed Percy to Kyle, grabbed Danger by the arm and pulled him into the house.  She stood tall, half expecting his answer to be no, and asked him point blank if he and Misty were having an affair.

He hung his head and didn’t say a word.  What could she do?  After several years of living in an awful relationship Octavia lost it and …..

Attached him.  Danger was much stronger then she and soon he had her pinned to the floor as he heavily breathed into her face.  When he felt she had slightly calmed down her scrambled to his feet pulling her up with him.

She told that she wanted him out of her house and out of her life, and as she cried she puffed his chest up and said, “That’s fine with me.  Misty is going to file for divorce and she, Porter and I are going to be a family.”

These words set Octavia off again.  She wasn’t going to let Danger take that sweet boy and turn him into another him.  “You are not going to him you bastard.”

“Yes I am he is my boy.”

“So are Pax and Percy, but you are not taking any of them.”

Danger, despite the jerk he is, wasn’t going to put his boys through this that night.  “Fine, but I think the court will have something different to say.”  With that he and Misty left, after she asked Kyle for a divorce.

Danger was true to his word and took Octavia to court he wanted to have sole custody of Porter and wanted weekly visitation rights to the other two boys.  After long dragged out court visits the judge decided that after all the evidence had been presented, that having all three boys living with Octavia would be in their best interest.  The court also put a two year no contact on Danger meaning that he had to stay away from his kids for two years and at the time he if wanted to pursue visitation then the courts would relook at his case.

The word around town is that Danger and Misty had a small private wedding as soon as her and Kyle’s divorce was final.  The news impacted Octavia’s life and she began to feel that she wasn’t worth being loved.

Octavia swore of men, but she worried about her boys.  Would her break up with their dad scar them?  Would a lack of a male role model be bad for them?

As the days and weeks rolled by one thing was starting to be clear…Kyle was always there.

Octavia: Generation 1 Chapter 2

A small smiled played on Octavia’s lips when she heard the sweet voice of her best friend on the other end of the phone.

“How is the little guy?”  Misty’s excitement jumped from the phone.  “Sorry Kyle and I weren’t there to bring you two home.”

Octavia’s voice is a whisper; she doesn’t want to wake Pax, as she answers her friend.  “He is perfect. We just walked onto the porch and I need to put him in his crib.  Can I call you back?”

“No need.  I will be over in a half hour.  I am going to spend the night and help you out so you can get a good night’s sleep before you start your schedule of late night feedings and little sleep.”  The phone goes dead.

Octavia shakes her head with happiness and takes Pax to bed.

Misty was true to her word and the next morning found Octavia making breakfast for the two of them.

“Thank you so much for staying and letting me sleep all night Misty.  You truly are the greatest friend ever.”  Octavia gushed.

“Oh hush up.  Don’t mention it.  It was definitely my pleasure Pax is such a little doll.”

The two of them ate breakfast together and took some time to catch up a bit.  Then their time was cut short when Pax began to cry for food.  Misty headed out the door while Octavia headed up the stairs to the nursery.

Octavia looked down and her perfect little boy.  She didn’t liked the circumstances as to which he was born, but she knew that she had been rewarded with such a precious little life.

“Pax I vow to you my dear one that you will be loved, no matter what happens.”  She kissed his tiny head and placed him back in his crib as he drifted to sleep.

Time moved along for the Slunhorn’s.  Octavia went back to work and she found a great sitter to watch Pax, but what totally caught Octavia off guard is that Danger began to call and text.  She never answered or replied, but it was tough not to.  Curiosity of what he wanted was very strong.

Then before she knew it, it was Pax’s birthday.  He was about to become a toddler.

Octavia planned a grand party for her little man.  Misty, Kyle and several other townsfolk came including one absent father, Danger Zone.

She refused to make a scene and even though they didn’t talk much that day she walked into the nursery and found Danger hugging Pax close to his chest humming into his ear.  The sight began to melt Octavia’s heart when it came to Danger.

Octavia was a great mom.  She made sure to spend a lot of time with Pax playing with him and teaching him things he needed to learn.

Still Danger continued to call and text and finally she let her babysitter go and allowed him to look after Pax during the day while she was at work.  She was surprised at how wonderful of a father he was to him and Pax was really getting attached to Danger.

Octavia wished that Danger would get a job and help out with the funds of raising Pax, but teaching him to walk and talk (Octavia did the potty training) during the day was very helpful.

“Hey little man your daddy wants to be closer to you, what do you think about him moving in with us?”

Danger had been pestering and pestering Octavia about spending more time with her and Pax.  She could see that he was a great dad and very committed to Pax, but she wasn’t ready to let him back in her fragile heart yet, or perhaps never, but she had to admit that having him at the house would be helpful with the cleaning, taking care of Pax and everyday chores.

Finally she and Danger sat down at the kitchen table and worked out a plan.  He could move in but it was strictly to help with the raising of Pax and to help around the house not to be involved with her.  Danger wanted to be with her, but agreed to the terms.

Danger tried and tried to get Octavia to trust him, but she would not budge.  She was being very stubborn and he cursed her and loved her all at the same time.  He had never met a woman quite like her before.

He decided that he had to start showing her how sincere he was about being a family with them and planned an outing at the park.  The day was lovely and they packed a picnic and everything.

Octavia couldn’t deny the great time she had that day, but when she called Misty to gush about it the alarms in her head and heart started to go off as Misty reminded her how he had acted in the past and when she told her that Danger was spotted out on the town with another woman the night before the walls began to go up once again.

That night she emailed home about what had been going on with pictures of Pax.  Even though Octavia and her mom had never been close she also asked advice of what she should do about Danger.

Her mom’s reply to her was surprising and simple.  She just told her daughter that she shouldn’t close her heart because love can come from someplace unexpected.

Octavia tried to live by her mother’s words but Danger and the folks of Riverview didn’t make that easy.  Every time he would go out she would hear a new rumor that he was with another woman and her doubt in his sincerity to be a family just kept decreasing.

Days before Pax would be a child Octavia put him down for the night and walked into her room to find a gorgeous blue dress laying on her bed with a note that said, “Meet me in the barn.”

She had never had fancy dresses and she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put one on.  She looked at herself in the full length mirror and was stunned at her reflection.

She smoothed down the material and headed to the barn.  When she walked in the sight took her breath away.  There was Danger dressed to the nines and looking oh so very dapper.

As she walked in he was in awe.  She looked stunning and without thinking he grabbed her hand and pulled her to him.  Slowly he leaned in to kiss her, but she pulled back asking what this was all about.

He let out a nervous laugh, but wouldn’t let go of her hand.  “I wanted to take you on a proper date, but since it is getting late and Pax is up in bed I figured I would take you out here.”

He clicked on the radio and they shared some dance time.  Octavia was really enjoying herself and got lost in the date, she once again got lost in him.

At the end of the night Danger had a huge surprise for her.

The hour was late and Octavia thought it was time to turn in for the night.

“Wait.”  Danger stopped her and pulled out a black velvet box from his pocket.

Before she could leave or say something that could ruin the moment he pulled a stunning ring from the box as he dropped to his knee.  “Octavia Kay Slughorn will you marry me.”  He blurted out.  It wasn’t exactly how he had planned the moment, but he was thankful that the question was asked.

Octavia was caught off guard.  She couldn’t comprehend what was happening.  They hadn’t even been intimate since the night Pax was conceived.  The rumors around town were he still was with many different women.  Her first instinct was to pull away and run from the barn, but then her mother’s words rang in her ear.

She looks at Danger and on pure emotion answers him with an emotional yes.

“I promise that I will take care of you and make you happy.”  Danger vowed as he stoked her cheek.

Octavia couldn’t help think that she hoped he was telling the truth.

From there time raced by.  Still reeling from the proposal and planning a birthday party for Pax left Octavia distant from her friends.  She hadn’t called and told Misty anything, but when she saw her at the party she pulled her aside and told her the good news that Danger proposed to her.

Misty didn’t take kindly to this news.  It wasn’t a secret that she thought Danger was trash and that he would treat her liked trash.  Their conversation was a downer, but Octavia refused to let it spoil her son’s birthday party.

After a lot of dancing, eating and socializing it was time to bring Pax to his cake.  Danger helped him blow out the candles and within moments he was an adorable child……

Who loved to make silly poses for the camera.

The next few weeks Danger was very secretive and Octavia began to question her decision to marry him.  Every time she brought up the wedding he would change the subject and wouldn’t talk to her about it.

Then he surprised her with tickets to China.  He had taken the little bit of savings he had and bought them tickets.  He told her it was to prove to her how serious he was about being a family.

The trip was beautiful; however Pax hated the outdoors and didn’t join Danger and Octavia on many of the outings.

He was very interested in learning and took the time that his parents were away to sleep in and read new books about the Chinese culture.

He did give into his mom when she requested he joining them in town for a family photo.  Gosh like father like son… they have the same grumpy expression.

The day before they were set to head back home Danger “disappeared”, and met up with a very shady looking woman.  Money was exchanged and a map was handed to Danger.

Using the map Danger entered an old tomb.  There he spent the majority of the day and well into the night looking for something.  He didn’t return to Octavia and Pax until the wee morning hours of the day they were heading back home.

When Octavia questioned him about his whereabouts he just smiled and told her he was taking in some last minute sites.

Before they had left on their vacation to China Octavia had worked very hard at her job and she completed her lifetime wish of becoming a Fashion Phenomenon.  Perhaps the goal for Generation two will have to be little more difficult.

When she returned to Riverview she received a call from the Mayor, they wanted to reward her hard work with the key to the city.  The party was grand and Octavia was thrilled at the recognition.  When she got home she hung the key on her bedroom wall.

Pax’s first day of school was an emotional one.  Danger and Octavia reminded him of his manors, and told him to pay attention to his teachers.  They hugged him assuring him that he will make so many new friends and set him on his way.

After the bus pulled away tears rolled down Octavia’s face, she couldn’t believe that her little boy was heading to school.  She didn’t understand where the time had gone.

Pax really wanted his parents to get married.  Many of the kids at school made fun of him because his dad had a bad reputation for being a ladies’ man.  He felt that if his parents got married those nasty rumors would go away.  He dreamt about this every night.

As much as Pax and Octavia wanted nuptials to be exchanged Danger was still dragging his feet.  He evaded questions about it and was even rude enough to walk away from his son or his fiancée when it was brought up.

To add to Octavia’s stress Danger had gotten a job at the local theater upon their return from China.  His hours were crazy and many nights he was out till all hours.  Many times Octavia would fall asleep before he got home and he was out the door again before she woke up.  He told her it was for the sake of their family, but something in her soul just didn’t quite believe him.

Then the most stressful news came to her three months after they returned from their trip.    She had been getting sick and had horrible cramps in her belly.  After seeing the doctor her worse nightmare was confirmed.  She was once again pregnant and by a man she wasn’t sure loved or even cared about her.

She waited two weeks to tell Danger and when she did he didn’t seem to even care, but expressed he did and said that he had to work as much as he could so they could afford a new baby.

Many nights Octavia found herself standing on the porch with Pax waiting for Danger to get home.  Many thought moved through her mind and she had decided that the only she could do for her family was to make Danger leave and give him his ring back.  She needed her children to be in a health home and the way things were now wasn’t health.

The morning that she was going to drop the bombshell to Danger something changed.

She continued to be sick during her pregnancy, which was unusual at this point of a pregnancy, and that morning was no different.  Danger was home for a change and burst through the bathroom door as he heard her getting sick.

“What’s wrong?”  His voice was filled with panic and concern.

The sentiment confused Octavia, but she told him that she was just getting sick from the pregnancy.  Danger pulled her into a hug and then began to massage her shoulders.   As he did this he whispered into her ear, “Things are going to be different.  I promise.”
